Architecture profile
Lifelong learning in the profession begins with the practice-orientated training of the architecture degree programme, which is concentrated in terms of time and content. In the Architecture degree programme at HTWK Leipzig, this is oriented towards the current job profiles and fields of work of European architects. Artistic, technical, economic, social and communicative core competences are taught and trained. The related working methods correspond to international practice. It includes individual, team and studio work. Experiences abroad through guest studies and excursions support the necessary global orientation of teaching as well as the integration of foreign languages into the curriculum.
Design projects, understood as holistic investigations and designs of the human living space in the city and landscape, are at the centre of teaching and combine all the individual disciplines involved.
As a rule, socially relevant questions and problems are thematised, which are then subjected to public criticism after the architectural work in the seminar. This is preferably done through exhibitions, participation in competitions and publications, whereby the practical relevance of the training is subject to constant review.
In addition to contemporary professional knowledge and skills, graduates have sufficient critical competence to be open and productive in the face of rapidly changing social and professional conditions in the future, as mentioned in the quote above.
Passing the aptitude test is a prerequisite for applying to study architecture. It is used to check the necessary aptitude for studying architecture.
