Study programmes
The degree programme provides training for work in the professional fields of social work. "Social work as a profession promotes social change and the resolution of problems in interpersonal relationships, and it empowers people to organise their lives better through free choice. Based on scientific findings about human behaviour and social systems, social work intervenes where people interact with their environment. Social work is based on the principles of human rights and social justice." (International Federation of Social Workers, Montreal 2000; translation: Deutscher Berufsverband für Soziale Arbeit e. V.) In order to fulfil this task in their professional activities, social workers require an interdisciplinary theoretical education that is scientifically sound and at the same time oriented towards the necessities of practice. Accordingly, the Bachelor's degree programme in Social Work closely interlinks the teaching of relevant specialist knowledge with practical work experience (practical modules, practical projects).
