Invitation: Long Night of the Sciences on 23 June 2023

Dear alumnae and alumni,

The Long Night of Science is coming up: on Friday, 23 June 2023, Leipzig's research institutions and the city will once again be inviting interested guests into their laboratories, lecture halls and magazines from 6 pm. This will give them access to places that are not normally open to the public and allow them to find out first-hand what research is being carried out and how.

Applied research is our great strength. Numerous researchers, employees and students are involved at HTWK Leipzig. They offer around 50 different experiments, presentations, lab tours, lectures, hands-on activities and much more. These present part of the wide range of research topics at the university.

I cordially invite you to discover our numerous offers during the Science Night on 23 June. Buildings in the south of Leipzig (Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 134/Gustav-Freytag-Straße) and in the centre-south (Wächterstraße) will be open: From high voltage to the geotechnical sandbox to glowing concrete and table tennis-playing printing and packaging technicians, there is a lot to explore.

Dear alumni,

The Social Work degree programme is currently in the process of redesigning the degree programme page on the HTWK website in order to present itself to prospective students in a target group-oriented and authentic way. Content is being prepared in new formats to provide more insight into the subject and the degree programme at HTWK. Among other things, we would like to illustrate the diverse perspectives after graduation in the form of short video clips with graduates.

In the alumni films, graduates of the HTWK will be interviewed who have arrived in professional life and talk about their experiences and everyday working life. Ideally, the short films (max. length 45 - 60 seconds) should be shot on location at the employer's premises. (Provided, of course, that the employer agrees). In addition to interview sequences, so-called cut-away pictures should be used, which show the alumnus/alumna at work or in typical situations from everyday working life, for example. This is also an opportunity for companies to present themselves to the public as an interesting employer in the region.

We are working with a professional film team. The videos should be filmed in June or July if possible. The time commitment for you should not exceed 1.5 hours.
