On the occasion of his 60th birthday in 1996, Gerhard Bremmer donated a prize endowed with 1,500 euros, which has since been awarded annually for the best work by architecture students.
Gerhard Bremmer had been Professor of Design at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences since 1992. Despite his advanced age of 86, he died unexpectedly on 10 November 2022. Just one year earlier, Gerhard Bremmer was awarded the university's highest honour, the Jakob Leupold Medal, for his outstanding commitment to HTWK Leipzig for more than 30 years.
Gerhard Bremmer participated in the jury meetings and award ceremonies until the end and was an active and enterprising person who was always open-minded and interested in new developments.
